The base is a 'tree' with 2 birds sitting on the branches that hold the shade. This piece is formed by over 455 hand-cut stained glass pieces, and 208 glass beads, each wrapped in a thin copper foil and soldered together, the same technique developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany in the early 1900's.
